to report on Brian's condition. His blood pressure has stabilized
and his heart rate came down on its own. His condition is now
considered "stable". The swelling in his eye is decreasing, but
they are still waiting for the swelling in his brain to decrease.
He is on minimal sedatives. The Doctor says they are just waiting
for him to wake up. This morning, he did have some tiny movement in
his fingers. They did perform a full body CT Scan to determine if
there were any other fractures or damage. He does have a minor
fracture in his C1 vertebrae. However, the Doctor believes it is so
minor that it should fuse on its own. The CT scan showed no other
signs of fractures.
Jennifer told Sonya that she is feeling healthy. She is taking
vitamins and she has been able to keep food down. She also said she
had a good night's sleep last night, although she's been getting to
bed around 1:30 each night. She is still wrestling with substantial
back pain and has been traveling home each night to take hot baths
and sleep in her own bed with heat packs.
Jennifer's mom brought the children over last night to sleep at home
with Jennifer. Jennifer said Kari Anne is still pretty quiet, but
both children are sleeping well again. They are still staying with
Jennifer's mom.
How can you help the DeVilbiss family?
-Pray specifically for the family and for God to be glorified and
honored in them. -Send Jennifer a Carrs/Safeway gas card or cash/check gift -Deanna Nelson and Sonya are arranging meals for Jennifer's mom
who is caring for the children and bringing food to Jennifer when
she brings the kids over. We're trying to get together about 3
meals (maybe a couple frozen, but we don't want Jennifer's mom to
have to worry about defrosting and prep too much) and then deliver
meals a few times a week. Please consider preparing a meal and/or
delivering meals to Palmer. Jennifer's mom said that Joseph really
likes pasta.
Now that Brian's condition has stabilized, Jennifer said that very quiet, minimal (no more than 20 minutes) visits are okay.
Hi Jennifer, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Glad to read about Brian's progress in recovery.

Hi Jennifer. I recognize you and you would probably recognize me if you saw me. Larry and Ray know me from Lazy Mountain Bible Church.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I am writing is because my husband, Dick Butcher, suffered a severe brain injury 11 years ago. He was comotose for 3 and 1/2 months. I had three children. I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I read that you are trying to make some decisions. I would be more than happy to be a listening ear, or offer some advice, or share with you if you would like me to. Nobody can really know what you are going through unless they have been there. Feel free to contact me at 373-5539 (Wasilla). God be with you.
